February 23, 2010 ENG 102 BOG

This week we were suppose to attend a Ted Koppel event, or write a video discussing the event. The video I watched was the one where Ted Koppel was discussion his prision views. He firsts off my talking about freedom, and how prisioners should be punsished. He's talking about the prision system does not work well. Therefore he's suggesting that prisioners are let out of prision too soon. He does not trust how the California prision system is working and he thinks there needs to be a drastic change. He discusses how out of sync the system is. I believe he thinks that there is no consistency when it comes to prisioners and time served. Another point he brings up in when prisioners get out, that they get out as productive citizens, and not come out too early, to most likely commit another crime. Another good point he brings up is the subject of solution. He states that the solution for the prisioners is not set up by the staff and the guards watching them at the prision. What the solution is that the prisioners are set up with is the political process. My solution would be setting up the sentence for the individual and not necessarily the norm of the crime. I also would not put any bearing on special privlidges for certain people such as celebs and athletes.

February 21, 2010 ENG 102 BLOG

This week was all set around working on, completing, and revising project 2. Before class on monday morning, we were suppose to turn in our first copy of project 2. Project 2 was centered around visual images. You could choose a picture, a video, or even a commercial from the super bowl. My choice for this project was a controversial super bowl commercial. I chose the Tim Tebow/ Pro life commercial. We turned in our first copy on discussion board. On monday we teamed up with one other person to read our project 2 out loud. We then went on discussion board and we did something different, in regard to normally commenting under a person's paper. We went under our own paper, and we wrote what the other person said you need to improve on. That was interesting due to the fact that the person would tell you out loud what they liked about the paper, and what they did not like about the paper. They would point out the flaws, and told you what you could expand on with regard to the paper. After that we then later in the week received feedback from the professor. We then were told we needed to get our revised copy turned in. On monday we will post on discussion board our revised copy of project 2.

February 14, 2010 ENG 102 BLOG

This week in class was scheduled around turning in our revised copies of our project. The project revision dealt with our paper regarding multiculturalism. I keyed in on making grammatical errors, and attempted to structure the paper differently. We turned the revised copy in on monday through discussion board on blackboard. We then went over our next project that same day. The next project deals with a visual item. Everyone is suppose to pick a visual item such as a picture, video, or super commercial. We then will write a 3 page paper regarding the visual item. We then scheduled an individual conference for later in the week with no classes wednesday and friday. My conference was on wednesday at 1:30 in the Robert Bell building. At the conference we discussed revising my first project again. We also talked about my plans for my next project. While I told the professor I thought I had an idea about the Tim Tebow abortion/pro life commercial, she suggested that I think about writing about my future in the landscaping business. She said I could write about the plans and blueprints that are in connection with the second project. I will finish up my project tonight and post it up on discussion board.

February 7, 2010 ENG 101 BLOG

This week in class we went over a story dealing with Multicuturalism in Business. The story dealt with how things are much more casual and laid back in the United States. When you compare the United States you see that we are more out spoken than other countries. And that we get more of a chance to say what we believe. For example in some countries you are not allowed to speak out in a classroom. You are expected to listen to the teacher, and not raise your hand. You are to not challenge the teacher in these countries. But in the United States you are awarded and expected to raise your hand and to be outspoken in a classroom. You are allowed to discuss your personal opinions and allowed to challenge the teacher or professor. Another example of comparing countries is the way of discussing religion. In the United States it is not connsidered customary to discuss your religion with your friends and family. It is considered unruly. In other countries though you are expected to discuss your overall religion opinions and your religion schedule. Olivia and myself were told to post a question about the article. My question reguarded advertising, and how a person has been affected by advertising.
